However, when you start to feel safe with someone you begin to tear down the walls and let them in emotionally. Usually after someone is hurt they build up emotional walls to protect themselves from being hurt again. She goes on to say she knows he gets her, and her walls come down. So the fact she said the joke wrong and he still laughed shows her small mistakes and quirks do not really bother him, that he is still amused. In her lyrics you think I’m funny when I throw the punch line wrong, infers that when you are are in love with someone you see the best in people and their quirks are amongst the things you begin to love. Throughout the song Katy Perry talks about what it is like to feel the rush of love again but skeptical at first due to her past that hurt her emotionally. The instrument being used, maybe a bass causes the melodies to take a bake burner to the heavy sound. I believe the similarities in the melodies of the verse, chorus, pre chorus, and the bridge is a loud instrumental sound that repeats the same notes throughout the song. The bridge of the song follows a very similar melody however, the bridge lightens the lyrics and the instrumentals with a slight fade out before moving on to the next chorus. In Teenage Dream it sounds as if the verses and the pre choruses have very similar, if not the same melodies, whereas the chorus differs in melody slightly.
The both lines have similar melodies and very different lyrics. Additionally the fourth and eighth line complicate the rhyme scheme even further. The end of the six line does however, rhyme with the third word of the eighth line. The first verse starts off by following an AABCBC pattern unfortunately, the remaining three lines do not have a noticeable rhyme scheme at the end of each line. The rhyme scheme throughout the song is rather awkward. The bridge is used to make repeating lyrics begin to fade out, ultimately fading out completely into a four second instrumental outro.
The new pattern created is chorus, bridge, chorus bridge, with the song ending on a bridge. However, after the second chorus the pattern begins to change. Teenage dreams begins by following verse, pre chorus, chorus pattern. The pattern in the song for rhyme scheme is not all that clear. The song begins with a four second instrument intro.
